Earlier in the year at CES, Huawei unveiled some of the most impressive Android smartphones we had seen to date. At the time no specific launch date information was made public but global availability information for the Ascend P1 has finally been revealed.
The 7.69mm thin Ascend P1 is already available in mainland China and will be available from carriers and retailers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia by May. Latin Americans will be able to get theirs from June with European availability will begin in summer. Don't worry if your region or country is not mentioned, Huawei intends to launch it in other markets following this, or you could always parallel import one for yourself.
Huawei's first attempt at a true flagship devices packs in a 1.5 GHz OMAP 4460 dual core processor, a 4.3 inch, qHD Super AMOLED display. There is also a 8 MP rear camera and it will come shipping with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Unfortunately the 6.7mm thin (the world's thinnest smartphone) Ascend P1 S does not get mentioned in the press release.
KitGuru says: In this quickly advancing world, the Ascend P1 already seems like a distant memory compared to the HTC One X and soon to be announced Samsung Galaxy S II sucessor.
