You may not have heard of Silver Power before, but when they approached us with a fanless power supply for review, we were intrigued. Not only that, but it is a modular design with 80 Plus Certification. Today we find out if it is a good first choice for a new media center build.
Features:
- Super high efficiency for energy savings, up to 94% efficiency, 80 Plus Gold approval.
- Air convection cooling without fan.
- 1% line regulation and 3% load regulation for 3.3V/5V/+12V rail for maximum stability, security and performance.
- Dynamic Load on +12V to ensure maximum compatibility with mainboards and peripherals.
- Japanese high reliability aluminum electrolytic capacitors for increased product life and reliability.
- Active Power Factor Correction [99% PF] for reduced line noise and power distortion.
- Advanced Resonant Switching circuit design for added reliability and efficiency.
- All in One DC Cabling to support PC, IPC, workstations, servers and dual CPU systems.
- Patented Easy Swap peripheral connectors for easy plug and unplug connection.
- Total Protection with Over Voltage, Over Power, Over Temperature and Short Circuit Protection.
- Universal AC Input for plug and run anywhere around the world.
- >100,000 hours MTBF.
- RoHS compliant.
- PFC Harmonics compliant, EN61000-3-2: 2000.
- Safety approvals: TÜV, Semko, CB & CE.
- Meet ERP requirement.
- Full Modular cable.
That is a really impressive design, but the price is only for a few people methinks.
Think high end media center for a noise sensitive person.
Nice design, has everything, then some. wattage is a bit low for £110 however. 850W power supplies are under 100 quid now.
I guess you pay for the lack of noise emissions.
A roaring Gorilla would indicate its damn noisy to me … lol
The Seasonic this is modelled on is only another £7.20 which i would plump for if i was in the market for a fanless PSU.
