Intel have been pushing the Ultrabook platform hard in the last 6 months, determined to claim a high market percentage. Their latest incentive is targeting China based makers, offering them financial and technological support if they join their ‘Ultrabook Ecosystem Community'. Sources in Taipei confirmed this yesterday evening.
Digitimes add “Intel has helped panel maker InfoVison Optoelectronics (Kunshan) obtain orders from ultrabook vendors including Asustek Computer and Lenovo, the sources indicated. In addition, fellow maker BOE Technology has been on Intel's list of suppliers of ultrabook panels, the sources noted.”
Intel have also helped the following companies:
Shenzhen Laibao High-Tech – a maker of capacitive Touch on lens which are used in tablets, smartphones, notebooks and ultrabooks.
TongDa Group – a maker of cases, who are now working with Dell, Lenovo, Asustek and Toshiba.
Guangdong Goworld – to shift touch panel technology from handsets to ultrabooks. With the help of Intel, they have developed a capacitive touch panel which can be used in a 11.6 inch ultrabook. They are apparently working closely now with Lenovo.
Kitguru says: Intel continue to direct hundreds of millions of dollars into driving forward the Ultrabook sector. They hope that sales will increase later this year and well into 2013.
