Diablo 3 sales pass the 6.3 million mark. gamers still unhappy.

Activision Blizzard announced yesterday that they sold more than 3.5 million copies of Diablo 3 in the first 24 hours of release. In the first week they claim to have sold 6.3 million copies.

Diablo 3 is the latest release in the Diablo franchise and a game that many people have been waiting 12 years to get their hands on. Diablo II sold 4 million copies in the year after it was released.

The sales don't include the 1.2 million people who received the game as part of a ‘World Of Warcraft' promotional campaign.

The launch didn't go to plan for the company however as the game is tied completely into an active internet connection. Their servers were unable to withstand the demand on launch day meaning that many people took the day off work for a marathon gaming session, only to be left unable to play their new game.

The servers were also down for part of the last week weekend for ‘maintenance'. Gamers have been annoyed at the access problems and have been vocal with their displeasure on public forums worldwide.

Activision Blizzard have also come under criticism for the high asking price. The PC game is £45, which makes it one of the most expensive titles released in recent years.

Kitguru says: Diablo III. Not quite the smooth release that the company would have wanted.

  1. I actually like the game, but I sometimes cant connect, still.

I dont think any other company would get away with such appalling service, but gamers love these guys.
