Summer’s Xbox Games Showcase breaks records for company

Summer Game Fest 2023 has come and gone, and to many, the standout showcase was Microsoft with its Xbox + Starfield Direct. The console manufacturer has now revealed that not only was the showcase well-received, but it was viewed by almost 100 million people.

Sharing the news via the official Xbox Wire blog, Jerret West, the CMO for Xbox said “It’s been a little over a month since fans around the world enjoyed the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct and we’re delighted to say that, within seven days of the broadcast, we saw over 92 million views across our first ever double feature, trailers, and segments from the shows.”

This number is said to represent an increase of 38% when compared to 2022’s show, meaning that it has now become “the highest rated and most-viewed show for Xbox, ever!”

On YouTube, the official Xbox stream for the Direct currently sits at 3.3 million views. Of course, this doesn't account for any co-streams or views from individual game trailers. Microsoft is typically seen as the 3rd place console manufacturer, but while this may be the case, compared to their own metrics Xbox is doing just fine. It will be interesting to see how the next direct fares in comparison.
