Call of Duty MWIII ‘worldwide reveal’ slated for next Thursday

For a while, it seemed as though Call of Duty would be skipping a year, with 2023 set to introduce an expansion-like experience into last year’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. Since then, Activision confirmed that we would be seeing a brand new full-blown COD entry this year. Following a number of brief teasers, the team have now officially confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare III’s ‘Worldwide Reveal’ will take place next week.

Publishing yet another teaser, Activision have released their “Makarov Reveal Trailer” which combines both live-action sequences with some small in-game snippets. As can be surmised by the title, the trailer focuses on the return of fan-favourite COD antagonist Makarov – originally seen in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 (though his involvement can be felt throughout the entire trilogy).

As with the prior two rebooted Modern Warfare entries, it seems as though Makarov will play a similar-yet different role in this 3rd entry. Perhaps more exciting is the fact that fans will finally get to see actual gameplay with concrete details when the ‘Worldwide Reveal’ for MWIII goes live on the 17th of August. What exactly this reveal will include is unknown, though it will seemingly take place within Warzone via some kind of in-game event.

Excitement surrounding MWIII has been somewhat muted due not only to the fact that it is following directly on from last year’s MWII, but also as a consequence of the game originally being pitched as DLC for 2022’s title. Hopefully the upcoming worldwide reveal ends up boosting excitement levels once again.
