Quake II Remastered to launch today following announcement at QuakeCon

Back in 2021 during QuakeCon, a remastered version of the original Quake launched for all modern platforms. Now two years on, Bethesda is looking to do the same thing with Quake 2.

The Quake 2 remaster first became public knowledge a couple of months ago, when South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee issued their rating for the game. The same committee also tipped us off to the launch of Quake Remastered in 2021.

Bethesda will officially announce the game at QuakeCon later today but listings for the game are already starting to appear on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, confirming that not only is the game coming, but it may be made immediately available after its announcement this evening.

Quake 2 Remastered will offer 4K resolution and widescreen support, improved lighting and anti-aliasing, as well as other graphical tweaks. Like the original, we expect that Quake 2 Remastered will release for all platforms.

KitGuru Says: Recently, Machine Games has been rumoured to be working on an unannounced project. Given the company's involvement with 2021's Quake Remastered, chances are the company is also involved here.
