Acer Jelly Bean tablet coming later this month for $229

Acer has just announced retail availbility and pricing for their own attempt at a 7 inch tablet running Android Jelly Bean, the A110. The Nexus 7 competitor will be available for $229 from October 30th.

What you get for this price is a 7 inch, 1024×600 display, a NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset, 1 GB memory, 8 GB internal storage, Micro SD slot and a claimed 7.5 hours battery life. The only areas where it could be considered better than its major competitor is where it has HDMI output and a MicroSD slot.

However, a heavily rumoured Nexus 7 model with 32 GB of storage will soon put that advantage to death and the Nexus device has much more direct software updates as part of the Nexus program.

KitGuru says: With ever increasing competition from other vendors it's hard to see the Acer A110 selling well due to its HDMI output capabilities alone.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
