Apple continue to dominate the tablet sector, selling 55 million iPads since the original product launch in 2010. According to latest reports from Viewsonic, Tablet PCs in the Taiwanese market have dropped to 30,000 a month compared to 40,000 during the peak period. Digitimes posted that Max Liu, ViewSonic Asia Pacific region product marketing director said sales in Q2 dropped.
Viewsonic's best selling tablet, is their 7 inch ViewPad 7e, which is priced around $205. They are only selling 5,000 of these a month, which is less than many would expect. ViewSonic are planning to launch new tablet PC models which will feature Android 4.0 and new functionality. They are also aiming to reduce the thickness of their new range while maintaining competitive pricing. They hope that this will drive sales in Q3 and Q4.
