Intel Everywhere and Everything

Newly formed mobile operator Everything Everywhere (the combined companies Orange and Vodafone) have today announced the launch of their new phone – called the “San Diego”.

What makes this one different is that it’s the first mobile smart phone to be launched in Europe that will be powered by an Intel chip.

The new phone will be powered by the Intel Atom Z2460 single-core processor and will use the Google Android OS. The new phone will go on sale from 6th June in the UK followed by France shortly after.

The handset supports HD video playback on a 4-inch 1024×600 pixel capacitive display and 1080p recording on its 8-megapixel camera, which also includes an LED flash and a 10-shot burst capture.

In hand with the launch will be a co-funded multi-million pound advertising campaign. The phone is expected to sell on PAYG for around £200

Kitguru Says: Intel are arriving to the table a bit late and with a single core chip as most are moving to dual core, is this the right move?
