Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt spoke to college graduates on Sunday, offering a sound piece of advise. Turn off their smartphones and computers and talk to a real person.
Schmidt spoke with graduates at Boston University where he received an honorary degree. Schmidt said “Take your eyes off that screen and look into the eyes of the person you love. Have a conversation, a real conversation.”
His advice was offered around halfway through the conversation with the students and was a contradiction around his broader message that social media is positive tool.
He joked that some of the audience were probably tweeting the speech right now. He added “You are emblems of the sense of possibility that will define this age. If you're awake, you're online, you're connected.”
Kitguru says: Google executives have made some broad statements in the past, making ‘Don't be evil' a business motto.
Nice to see such a high powered executive talking a bit of sense!
