Samsung’s new CEO calls for software and design improvements

Samsung has received its fair share of negativity in regards to its TouchWiz user interface found on many of its smartphones in recent years. We have even voiced our own concerns in our recent Galaxy xCover review. The message has obviously gotten through to Samsung's recently appointed CEO, Kwon Oh-hyun.

Samsung's CEO wants to see a stronger focus on software and the user experience

In his first speech as CEO he had this to say to employees:

“A particular focus must be given to serving new customer experience and value by strengthening soft capabilities in software, user experience, design, and solutions.”

Part of this focus may be present in Samsung's latest and greatest smartphone offering, the Galaxy S III. The TouchWiz Nature UX present on the phone offers a much more refined user interface compared to previous versions of TouchWiz and puts it on the same level as stock Android and HTC's Sense interface. If not this not the case, consumers will have to wait until next year to see this new direction in its software. Oh-hyun also mentions design which hints at Samsung stepping away from devices that are comparatively cheap in appearance.

KitGuru says: Well it's about time Samsung realises this; the customer experience should be the most important thing at the end of the day.

  1. I don’t know why every one thinks Touch Wiz UI is rubbish … it’s really not that bad, I think its actually quite good, its definately not confusing like lots of people say), unless you’re a tard I guess!

Also sort out your comment text box…getting capture incorrect shouldnt clear the comment you’ve just typed!

  2. It was rubbish on the xCover, I’ve never played with one of Samsung’s previous higher end phones to see if it was any better but yea I have to agree that it is much better on the S3 at least – I’m not sure what phone you’re running it on

Will pass that feedback along John
