Samsung reveals Galaxy S III variants for Canada

Samsung has revealed two Galaxy S III variants for the Canadian market. What makes the two different from one another is purely radio baseband and internal memory related. The SGH-i747 comes with LTE support and comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. The other variant, the SGH-iT999 supports only DC-HSPA+ up to 42.2 Mb/s and comes only in the 16GB flavour.

Canadians will be able to purchase their Samsung Galaxy S III from the 20th of June

What makes these North American destined phones different from the international Galaxy S III is largely the chipset inside and amount of RAM. Where the international version has a Exynos 4412 chipset and 1 GB of RAM, the Canadian versions will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset and step the memory count up to a full two gigabytes.

Other than these changes the Canadians variants will be identical in terms, camera, display and battery. The design of the handset itself will likely remain the same as the international Galaxy S III, as suggested on the carriers' pre-order pages.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available on all major Canadian networks. Pre-orders have already begun at Rogers and Telus. The official Canadian launch will be on June 20, which also happens to be the rumoured date for a launch south of the border.

KitGuru says: We can only hope that all of these regional variants won't play into the hands of Android-critics when it comes to firmware updates.
