Nokia announces 808 PureView for America

Nokia could have chosen a better date for their own Monday press conference considering Microsoft's announcement of the Surface tablets, but what is done, is done. Yesterday, the falling giant announced that their 808 PureView camera-phone is destined for the US market. It will be available for $699 (roughly the same price as Samsung's Galaxy S III) from Amazon and will work just fine on AT&T and T-Mobile.

The 808 PureView was one of the stars of the show at Mobile World Congress in February and as a quick recap its main feature is a 41 MP sensor combined with a Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash that manages to offer impressive picture quality and up to 4x lossless digital zoom. It has a 4 inch (360 x 640) AMOLED display but unfortunately runs on Nokia's proprietary Symbian Belle OS.
