Google Chrome will start to align across platforms next year

Google Chrome for Android and iOS currently fall short of their desktop equivalents, if not in performance then certainly version numbers. This will change over the next year as the Chrome team expect to start aligning all platforms by “early next year”.

When asked why Chrome for Android currently sits at version 18 and regular Chrome at version 23, a member of the Chrome team replied with the following statement:

“We expect an update to Chrome for Android starting with a developer update to happen before the end of the year, and we’re actively working towards aligning releases across all platforms, including Android, starting early next year.”

What this essentially means is that features across all platforms vary less, and this process will commence from early next year. Of course, don't expect your Android smartphone to run Chrome exactly the same as your Windows 8 desktop. Nor should you expect Flash to make a return to the mobile platforms.

KitGuru says: Those looking for a more consistent Chrome experience across platforms will start to see it for themselves next year.
