Leaks point to new Ryzen chips with 3D V-Cache for gaming laptops

AMD has found success with its new 3D V-Cache technology on desktop processors and soon, we may see that same technology making its way to laptops. According to new reports, AMD is now preparing new Zen 4 mobile CPUs with 3D V-Cache for a new generation of gaming laptops.

According to leaker 9550pro, Asus has recently been testing a new Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor for an upcoming ROG gaming laptop. The chip is listed as having 16 cores and 128MB of L3 cache.

This particular chip should be AMD's new mobile flagship and may well be reserved for ‘desktop replacement' laptops, rather than more affordable units.

3D V-Cache provided a nice gaming performance bump on desktops when it first debuted with the Ryzen 5000X3D series and since then, AMD has launched new Ryzen 7000X3D processors for desktop systems. There's no word on when the first 3D V-Cache laptops will launch, but given that testing is underway right now, we'd expect to hear official news in a few months' time.
