Samsung Galaxy S, S II and Ace removed from Apple vs Samsung trial

After accusing more than 20 Samsung devices of patent infringement, three have been removed from proceedings in the United States Apple vs Samsung court trial. Judge Lucy Koh has ruled that the Galaxy S GT-i9000, the S II GT-i9100 and Galaxy Ace will no longer be involved when the jury is asked to answer if Samsung's devices copied Apple's iPhone or infringe on its patents.

Samsung argued that Apple did not provide a reason as to why these three devices should be included in the trial. The Korean company went onto argue that the devices were never directly offered for sale in the United States by Samsung or any of its subsidiaries. However, there are ofcourse the carrier variants that are still included in the trial. As a result Koh agreed with Samsung and they are now excluded.

Considering much of the comparative images we have seen compare the original Galaxy S and the older iPhone 3GS, some of Apple's edge has been taken away.
