HTC announces the low-end Desire X smartphone

HTC has announced its latest budget Android offering and further revives some legendary branding we haven't heard from in a little while. The device in question is the Desire X, and looks to fit in between the Desire C and One V.

The design of the Desire X is heavily inspired by the high-end One X and One V models and we see nothing wrong with that. It has a 4 inch, 480×800 resolution Super LCD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225 chipset with a 1 GHz dual-core processor and the Adreno 203 GPU. There is also 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, MicroSD slot and to keep inline with recent promotions, there is also 25 GB of Dropbox storage.

The rear cover is removable and reveals a 1650 mAh battery and the workings of a 5 MP camera. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC's Sense interface layered on top.

It will go on sale from mid-September in Europe and Asia.

KitGuru says: Price will be critical to the success of the Desire X.
