During Sony’s most recent PlayStation Showcase, the console manufacturer announced a whole host of first-party PlayStation exclusives. One of the most surprising was Helldivers II – a sequel to the 2015 PS3/Vita top-down shooter. Now taking the form of a 3rd-person co-op shooter, the upcoming title has seemingly had its release window leaked.
Reported by Tom Henderson via InsiderGaming, as part of an internal Sony partnership program mission briefing it was seemingly accidentally revealed that the upcoming satirical 3rd-person co-op shooter will be releasing this October – though no specific date was mentioned.
Just days ago, Helldivers II popped up on the ESRB ratings board with an ‘M’ rating, suggesting that the game is nearing release. With Helldivers II being published by Sony themselves, the game is likely to be coming out in the first half of October as to not conflict with Sony’s other October release – the juggernaut that is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (which is dropping on the 20th).
October is looking to be a stacked month for gaming, with the aforementioned Spider-Man 2 set to release then, alongside the likes of Super Mario Bros. Wonder; Alan Wake II; Assassin’s Creed Mirage; Forza Motorsport; Lords of the Fallen and Detective Pikachu Returns – to name a few. Hopefully Helldivers II doesn’t get lost in the pack.
