Razer shrinks the BlackWidow V4 to 75% form factor

Razer has a new BlackWidow gaming keyboard launching this month. The new BlackWidow V4 75% shrinks the form factor down to save on deskspace without sacrificing functionality. The new board also ships with new and improved tactile mechanical switches, and the sockets are hot swappable, so you can update your key switches later if you prefer.

The Razer BlackWidow V4 75% is now available in black, but a white variant is also coming later. These new keyboards are compatible with 3- or 5-pin switches for even more customisation. Users can easily substitute each pre-mounted switch with the alternative they wish, giving them complete control over the feel and responsiveness of their keyboard.

The all-new Orange Gen 3 tactile mechanical switches offer a higher bump point and a crisper sound profile. The BlackWidow V4 75% has been designed with a gasket-mounted FR4 plate and two layers of sound-dampening foam. To prevent undesirable pinging and reverberation, one layer is sandwiched between a tape-enhanced PCB and the FR4 plate, while the other is positioned at the bottom of the box. The plate-mounted stabilisers are factory-lubricated for smoother key travel. The PCB is also designed to allow for screw-in stabilisers, so you can replace the originals at a later date.

The 75% arrangement of the keyboard guarantees that gamers have all of the necessary keys without sacrificing as much desk space as with a full layout. To complement its aesthetics, Razer opted for a 5052 aluminium alloy frame along with Razer Chroma RGB on each key and on the sides. The multi-function roller and media keys provide gamers with ease for all of their entertainment demands. Moreover, it supports a polling rate of up to 8000Hz and features fully configurable keys via Razer Synapse, Doubleshot ABS Keycaps, N-key rollover, and anti-ghosting.

As mentioned above, the Razer BlackWidow V3 is now available and goes for $189.99/€219.99. The white variant is planned to release on September 20th for $199.99/€229.99.

KitGuru says: Big peripheral brands have not launched many 75% keyboards, but things are changing. Besides Razer's BlackWidow V4 75%, there's the Corsair K65 Plus Wireless gaming keyboard. Alternatively, if you prefer a low-key design, Logitech has the MX Mechanical.
