Riot shows off new gameplay for its fighting game ‘Project L’

Over the last few years, Riot Games has been working on its very first fighting game under the codename Project L. We last saw gameplay in 2021 and now, Riot is ready to show off a bit more.

Project L was initially announced alongside Valorant a couple of years ago as part of Riot's efforts to expand its player base and grow the League of Legends IP. Project L will be a 2D fighter, taking inspiration from the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and unlike Valorant, this game will be set in the LoL universe, using characters from the original MOBA.

In the video above, you can see new gameplay from Project L, released as part of the latest developer diary update. This time around, we get to see a full duos match play out. Stylistically, it looks like the team has gotten things on point. The character models and animations all look good and overall, the game does look pretty polished.

Each fighter on the roster has their own unique move set but the exact number of characters that will appear in the game at launch has yet to be announced. In fact, we don't have a release date yet either.

KitGuru Says: Riot has been working on Project L for a long time now. We've finally got a full match worth of gameplay and hopefully at some point in the next 12 months we can get some release date news.
