A decade ago, Slender Man took the internet by storm, with the creepy faceless horror icon rising to fame thanks in part to the creation of Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival – two survival horror experiences from Blue Isle Studios. 10 years on from the release of The Arrival, the team have announced a surprising free update to the game, remastering it using Unreal Engine 5.2.
Making the announcement on their website, the team at Blue Isle Studios stated “It’s been ten… long… years. We are thrilled to announce that Slender: The Arrival, the spine-chilling horror game that has captivated millions of players, is about to become even more terrifyingly immersive.”
They continued, “Brace yourselves for a huge update coming this October as we introduce a complete visual overhaul utilizing the latest and greatest technologies and Unreal Engine 5.2.”
Alongside the announcement a trailer and comparison screenshots were released, showcasing just how different the game can look using modern rendering techniques.
Finally, the team also teased ‘S: Lost Chapters’ – “a brand-new type of horror” which will have players “delve deeper into the depths of infamous stories once told and unearth the terrible secrets left behind.”
Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival were both terrifying games when they were released over 10 years ago. It will be interesting to see just how much more amped up the game will feel thanks to Unreal Engine 5. We won’t have to wait too long to find out.
