Razer brings its Edge gaming handheld to UK at £449

The Razer Edge launched in the US quite a while ago, offering a new all-in-one handheld for mobile gaming. While the system supports Android games, it is also designed to take advantage of cloud gaming services like GeForce Now and Game Pass Ultimate, paving the way for complete portable access to your game library.

At Gamescom this week, Razer announced plans to bring the Razer Edge to select regions in Europe and Asia. Unfortunately, if the $399 USD price sounded unpalatable to you, then the UK launch price isn't going to turn things around. At launch in the UK, the Razer Edge will cost £449.99, hovering around the same price as a full next-gen console like the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

For that money, you'll get what is essentially an Android tablet with dedicated controllers attached to the sides for convenient access. Under the hood, the system is powered by a Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 SoC. The display does sound very good on paper, delivering AMOLED technology and a 144Hz refresh rate.

If you would rather just use your own phone for cloud gaming, then Razer has an option for you. The Razer Kishi V2 mobile controller is available for both iOS devices and Android. The controller mounts onto your phone and can then be used to play native mobile games or games over the cloud.

The Razer Edge will be available in the UK and Europe starting this week, priced at £449/€499. The Razer Kishi V2 for iPhone or Android is available, priced at £99.99. The Razer Kishi V2 Pro (Android only) offers better haptic feedback features, passthrough charging and a 3.5mm audio jack for £129.99.

KitGuru Says: The Razer Edge is landing in the UK but that price tag doesn't make much sense to me when products like the Steam Deck exist in a similar price bracket.
