Anonymous hits Pussy Riot court website

Internet hacktivist movement Anonymous, has shown how it feels about the recent conviction of Russian anti-government protesters, the band Pussy Riot, by defacing the website of the court that sentenced them.

To show their dissaproval at the outcome of the trial, the Anons posted a video of the latest single from the group, whilst leaving messages of support and condemnation – though the latter was for President Putin and his government. Some of the messages included “Putin's thieving gang is robbing out country!” and “Free Pussy Riot!,” alongside “Judges – I'd have executed them all.”

However it was not to last, as three hours later officials regained control of the site and removed the messages and videos. A press officer told RBTH that “specialists” were looking into how the hack had occurred.

One of the lawyers working for Pussy Riot later claimed that while he couldn't support any illegal action, he had admiration for Anonymous, calling them “daredevils.” He even went as far to say that if any of the Russian chapter was arrested, he would happily defend them.

In typical Anonymous fashion however, this isn't the only attack on the cards. A Twitter account purporting to be run by Russian Anons has announced its intention to attack the website of Rosneft, an oil firm owned by the Russian government. While this doesn't have anything to do with Pussy Riot, it is further protest against Russian authority.

KitGuru Says: While Anonymous appears to have calmed somewhat in recent months, it's clearly still organised enough to get things done. How long do we think the Rosneft site will be down/defaced for? Place your bets now.
