Samsung has briefly dabbled in the Android media player game in the past, at one point bundling one of them with every Samsung television sold and the Korean company now adds the Galaxy Player 5.8 to this series.
As the name suggests it has a 5.8 inch LCD display. Regardless of the large display size, it only has a 960×540 resolution. It will also run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's TouchWiz interface layer on top.
Other specifications include a 2500 mAh battery, either 16 or 32 GB of storage, a MicroSD slot and a front facing VGA camera.
Judging from this translated press release the Galaxy Player 5.8 will be available from September, although it is not clear if the device will make it to the international market.
KitGuru says: It's hard to believe there is really a market for Android media players.
