Alongside the Galaxy Note II Samsung also announced the first Windows Phone 8 device at the Mobile Unpacked Event, the ATIV S. This announcement comes less than a week before we expect Nokia to unveil their own Windows Phone 8 hardware.
The ATIV S has a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 1280×720 resolution, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, 1 GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB of storage, MicroSD slot, 2300 mAh battery, 8 MP rear camera and a 1.9 MP front facing camera. All of this is packed into a 8.7mm brushed aluminum case that looks amazing and weighs 135 grams. Software wise, it will of course be running Windows Phone 8.
No information appears to have been given out regarding retail availbility but rumours have suggested an October 29th launch for the Windows Phone 8 platform.
KitGuru says: The ATIV S looks like a fantastic device, but it is yet to be seen if it will match other Windows Phone 8 devices.
