GAME picks up ex-HMV game boss

While publishers and developers may be concerned about the future of games at HMV, after many stores were closed and a lot of game purchasing staff let go, one person from the beleaguered firm decided to jump ship before getting the boot. Gamerbase boss Dominic Mulroy resigned earlier this week and has already received a position at GAME.

He's now been given the position of senior business development manager, presumably to help bring something similar to Gamerbase to GAME stores. Gamerbase was a concept devised by Mulroy, which saw gamers competing in the store for prizes and was used in its stores in major cities like London, Manchester and Glasgow.

Several Gamerbase locations are being shutdown too.

GAME's statement about the hiring was linked by MCV, “We can confirm that Dominic has come on board and his role will be focused on developing new areas of the business where we can better deliver for the gaming community.”

KitGuru Says: I understand that people like Mulroy have a certain skillset that is probably more applicable to GAME than it was HMV, but it always seems surprising how people that were a part  of a failed business can find employment so easily. Good for them, don't get me wrong it's great they can move on so quickly – just surprising that they're so wanted.
