300 million Shazam users and new updates coming

Shazam has managed to snag over 300 million users and has also announced new iPad and Android tablet updates.

The company have released the information at the latest Mobile World Congress along with upcoming tablet updates with their ‘new user experience'. This will be released within a couple of weeks.

New features planned are a redesigned home page, an improved layout for Shazam tag results (tv/music) and a new way to browse what other people have been tagging.

They are also planning a new interactive mapping feature which will let people around the world explore various cities and there is also a new friends feature and automatic tag resubmission.

Tagging on the tablet versions should be almost instantaneous and they have added full screen LyricPlay lyrics to the experience.

Andrew Fisher the CEO of Shazam said “The number of Shazam users and their level of engagement continue to grow rapidly.  We now have over 300 million Shazamers globally with an increasing proportion of whom use our app on their iPad or Android tablet devices to interact with television.  This new version of Shazam optimizes discovery, engagement, transactions and exploration in a tablet environment.

“It’s the most efficient way to experience more of the media around you whether you are in your home or in any other environment throughout the world.”

The BRIT awards was the first live Shazam enabled UK TV show last week but there are plans for more.
