ASUS makes the PadFone 2 official

Yesterday from both Milan and Taipei, ASUS has made the PadFone 2 official. The smartphone/tablet hybrid has been improved significantly from the first stab at this rather niche product type and includes a healthy array of specifications.

The phone itself has a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2 GB of memory, 4.7 inch Super IPS+ HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 and a 2140 mAh battery. Other specifications include a 13 MP camera and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich which will apparently be able to be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soon.

The smartphone can slide securely into the 649 gram tablet component which includes a 10.1 inch, 1280×800 IPS and a 5,000 mAh battery.

The PadFone 2 will be availalbe in most of Europe and across Asia before the end of 2012, although no specific pricing information has yet to be released.

KitGuru says: The phone looks really nice, sadly I cannot say the same for the tablet end of things.
