Nikon release 24.1 megapixel D5200 SLR

Nikon have announced the release of their new D5200 SLR, a 24.1 megapixel compact body SLR. The camera will be available in three colours … black, bronze and red. The camera is also said to have 39 point auto focus. The body price will be around 900 euros when it goes on sale at the end of the year.

The 5200 is a DX format camera with an EXPEED 3 image processing engine. ISO support ranges from 100 to 6400 with an expansion option to 25,600. There is a 2,016 pixel RGB sensor onboard which breaks new ground in this price range for Nikon.

The 5200 also has High definition video support, up to full 1080p 60i/50i. Nikon have included a special effects mode to offer specialised options for the video recording. Nikon are also allowing an advanced recording mode so the user can adjust settings including shutter speed. The 5200 can support speeds up to 5fps, dependent on the settings.
