Nokia unveils the “most affordable” Windows Phone 8 device

In order to appeal to as many demographics and markets as possible, Nokia has today unveiled the “most affordable” Windows Phone 8 device to date. The device will be better known as the Nokia Lumia 620 and continues with Nokia's trend of offering a device in as many colours as possible. Options for the changeable shells currently include lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black.

The Lumia 620 has a 3.8 inch WVGA ClearBlack display, a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Plus processor, 512 MB memory, 8 GB of internal storage plus a MicroSD slot. Further additions include NFC, 5 MP rear camera, VGA webcam and a 1300 mAh battery.

“We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices. “With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point.”

Nokia's budget Windows Phone 8 offering is set to cost $249 USD with availability commencing in Asia in January, followed by Europe and the Middle East.

KitGuru says: The Lumia 620 from Nokia could be enough to entice people to give the Windows Phone 8 platform a go.
