Thermaltake launches Versa G1 and G2 affordable chassis

When Thermaltake launched the Elements series a few years back, reaction was mixed. Knowing that the world economy was in a bad place, the company tried to be creative at the low end of the market, with mixed results. Ironically, with so little money in the market, it was the launch of the Level 10 at almost £500 that proved the most influential new product – and Thermaltake offered more chassis at a higher price. With the Versa series, it's revisiting the low end. KitGuru dusts off the microscope for a close look.

UPDATE: Thermaltake has contacted KitGuru to confirm that the street price will be $59 (approx £39) for this chassis.

There's affordable and there's cheap. We've all been in situations where we just want ‘cheap', but – for the most part – we're actually looking for value. For something that we can afford – but which still has lots of cool stuff.

The Versa G1 and G2 models from Thermaltake come with this kind of specification list:-

  • Ample room for high-end hardware – including a GTX690
  • Cleanable air filters
  • Perforated front bezel to increase airflow, while controlling dust
  • Black finished steel
  • Advanced cable management
  • USB 3 connectivity
  • Blue LED fan for that ‘pre-modded look'
  • Transparent side window – so you can sit back, enjoy the blue glow and admire your system-building handiwork

Before we continue with our analysis, you might be wondering why the ‘G1' and ‘G2' naming.

Simple enough, it refers to the alternative front panel designs available.

For a change, Thermaltake has actually made a 5-page PDF available for each of these chassis, which you can down load yourself from these KitGuru links:-

We're presently waiting on UK/USA/EU pricing and will update this story as that information becomes available.

Neat looking, but a session in the KitGuru Labs is needed to let you know if it meets our standards for noise suppression, heat dissipation and overall 'joy to build'. Roll on the testing!

KitGuru says: The product looks nice enough and has plenty of features, but it is a very competitive market with the Silverstone Precision and Cooler Master Elite chassis, so we'll wait until we see the street price before passing any kind of judgement on value.
