LG launch 21:9 aspect monitor (2560×1080) in Korea

If you ever wondered why super oblong screens weren't more commonplace, then LG might just have the answer. The company are launching their new 21:9 aspect monitor in Korea this week. This is the first in their attack on the ‘ultra widescreen invasion'. This will be the world's first 21:9 aspect computer monitor.

Movie fanatics should welcome the new design. The LG EA93 also offers 100 percent sRGB colour space extension and can split the screen up in two or four segments – with each area acting like a separate display. Multiple devices can be hooked up to take advantage of this.

The screen offers 2560×1080 resolution and is an IPS panel measuring 26.6×11.4 inches. The panel is covered in anti glare coating and has a 300 nit brightness level with DVI-D Dual Link support, two HDMI and four USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort and PC audio in. There are 7W speakers built into the device.

LG are using their Digital Fine Contrast Technology to give a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio with a response time of 5ms (gray to gray).

UK launch will be later, and we have been told it should be January before stocks are available. We will be interested to see the price.
