Phasmophobia’s console launch delayed due to office fire

Phasmophobia hit it big back in 2020 when the game was released in Early Access, launching to near immediate success. In the years since, the team at Kinetic Games have continued to work diligently on the game, improving it across the board. Phasmophobia’s next step was to see the title come to current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Unfortunately, the release has now been pushed back from this month to October – though there is a small silver lining.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the team at Kinetic Games said “Dear Phasmophobia Community, First and foremost, we’d like to thank you all for your support and that you are just as excited as we are for the console release. Due to a recent fire incident in our office building and unpredicted development issues, our ability to test and develop has been significantly impacted.”

They continued, “After careful consideration we have made the tough decision to delay the console release, initially set for August, while we get everything sorted. We are now aiming for a special launch during the week leading up to Halloween this October. This gives us the needed time to perfect and fine-tune everything. Your patience and understanding mean everything to us, and we can’t wait to bring Phasmophobia to consoles.”

While certainly unfortunate for all those involved – especially the team at Kinetic Games – the slight silver lining does come in the fact that Phasmophobia will now be releasing right before Halloween. Being a co-op focused horror title, Phasmophobia matches the Halloween vibes perfectly and so hopefully the game hits big once again when it does come to consoles.
