Hewlett Packard announce EliteBook Revolve

Hewlett Packard have announced a new tablet/hybrid which seems all the rage lately. The EliteBook Revolve is targeting the business market.

The EliteBook Revolve is a touch enabled laptop, and the display can be rotated and laid flat, turning the notebook into a tablet. It is due to launch in March 2013 with a US starting price of $499.

The machine has a 11.6 inch HD display and weighs only 3 lbs. The company are selling versions with both Windows 7 or Windows 8 installed. While Windows 8 hasn't met with a wide, warm reception from the enthusiast audience, we would recommend the latest operating system as it is designed for a touch enabled platform.

The chassis of the EliteBook Revolve is made from touch magnesium and the company have coated the panel with Gorilla Glass 2 cornering.

The machine will feature an Intel processor with a Displayport connector to hook up to an external monitor. There are also USB 3.0 ports and a 720p camera. The company also will supply SSD versions, although they will cost extra.

HP's Dan Forlenza said “Employees want computing devices that work the way they do – flexibly and able to adapt to any situation. HP is committed to ensuring its Elite portfolio of tablet solutions will provide customers the features their employees need for maximum productivity, with a design they’ll be proud to carry everywhere they go, all without sacrificing the enterprise services and protection that take the headache away from IT.”

Kitguru says: This will go head to head against similar offerings from Sony and Dell.
