Sony announces the budget Xperia E Android smartphone

Android smartphone manufacturers often use the line “in order to retain the best performance the -insert device here- will not be updated to the latest version of Android”. It's a quote we are all too familiar with and while we don't expect it to change, Sony has today announced the budget Xperia E that will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on-board.

The Xperia E has a 3.5 inch HVGA display, a 1 GHz single core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor and 4 GB of internal storage (2.2 GB user accessible) and a MicroSD slot. There is also a 3.2 MP rear facing camera.

The biggest appeal of this lower end device is that it will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from the moment you tear open the packaging and incorporates Sony's xLOUD technology for a more immersive music experience. The Xperia E will be available from early 2013.

KitGuru says: If you end up looking for an affordable phone in the new year, the Xperia E could be at the top of your wishlist.
