Samsung to demo flexible display technology at CES

With the Consumer Electronics Show just over two weeks away we are starting to get a better idea of what will be teased, demonstrated and unveiled at the convention. The latest reports suggests that Samsung's display division will show off a pair of flexible displays that could one day change the way we use mobile devices as we know it.

Those present at CES will be able to witness a 5.5 inch flexible display with a resolution of 1280×720 and a not amazing but regardless impressive pixel density of 267 PPI. Samsung will also take the opportunity to reveal the same technology applied to a 55 inch television instead. This of course means that a projector screen-styled television could be a real possibility a couple of years from now.

However, the displays that will be shown early next month don't include touch sensors or a cover lens; both are critical components for use on today's smartphones.

KitGuru says: It is unlikely any devices will launch with flexible displays in 2013 but the technology at hand is a big leap forwards.
