While this has yet to be confirmed for Wii U console owners worldwide, a report from an Italian gamer is suggesting that those wanting to buy adult orientated content on the platform, will need to do so between 11PM and 3AM, otherwise it will be locked.
Supposedly the NeoGaf user contacted Nintendo to find out why he couldn't access the ZombieU page on Nintendo's Wii U Eshop. While the responses from Nintendo were in Italian, he thankfully added a quick translation. The first one reads: “Dear customer, we would like to let you know that Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries. We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11 P.M. – 3 A.M. time window.”
Understandably when he asked how this was applicable to a person owning the console, that was clearly of an age where such content was perfectly appropriate, Nintendo said: “Dear customer, we would like to inform you that it is an additional precaution to make sure that minors cannot access content which is inappropriate for their age.”
KitGuru Says: As the poster points out, if this is a necessary measure, it doesn't say much for Nintendo's protective systems on actual child accounts. On top of that, what a ridiculous time to pick. If you were going for some type of standard, how about after 9PM, the traditional British watershed?
