THQ Humble Bundle could be most profitable ever

Despite the furore that appeared shortly after the Humble Bundle announced its partnership with financially wobbly publisher THQ, it looks like it's going to be the most profitable bundle ever, with just under 12 hours to go to raise the last $300,000.

The current record holder for most profitable Humble Bundle yet, was number five – Humble Bundle V – which raised $5.1 million because not only did it pack in games like Amnesia: Dark Descent, Limbo, Sword and Sworcery and Bastion, but it also had donators going head to head. The Humble Brony Bundle, which sadly seems like it's been disbanded and Markus ‘Notch' Persson consistently attempted to outdo each other, totalling over $100,000 in pledged funds themselves.

Who knows, maybe these sales will keep THQ afloat?

As it stands, THQ's bundle has sold just under 850,000 bundles, with total payments reaching $4.855 million. This is despite the fact that the average purchase price is less than $6 and the biggest contributors have only shelled out around $1,600.

For anyone that hasn't picked it up yet, there's a lot of games on offer, including Red Faction: Armageddon, Darksiders, Metro 2033, Company of Heroes and two expansions. If you pay over the average, which amounts to around £4, you also get Dawn of War GotY edition and Saints Row the Third.

KitGuru Says: What are you waiting for? The games may require steam to run and there may be no Linux support, but a good chunk of this is going to charity. Pony up kids.

While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
