After introducing the enticingly cheap Acer C7 Chromebook in November, Acer are back again with a higher specced C7 Chromebook; this time priced at $299. For an extra $100 the RAM is doubled to 2 GB, the hard drive size increases from 320 GB to 500 GB and claimed battery life rises from 3.5 hours to 6 hours.
Everything else, including the design of the Chromebook remains the same; a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor and 11.6 inch, 1366×768 resolution display. Additional ports include HDMI, VGA, three USB 2.0, audio/input 3.5mm jack and an Ethernet port. Dual-band Wi-Fi and an HD camera are also included. Due to Chrome OS' integration with the cloud, 100 GB of free Google Drive storage is included for two years.
The Acer C7 Chromebook is more bulky than its Samsung counterpart; at 1 inch thick and weighing 1.36 KG compared to 0.7 inches thick and a weight of 1.1 KG.
KitGuru says: We'd be fairly confident in saying that an extra $100 on the higher specced model is money well spent.
