The Nokia Lumia 920’s refresh rate is 5.4x quicker than the iPhone 5

When you are in the market for a new smartphone we always look at the size of the display and often the resolution but never the refresh rate of the chosen panel. While the size of the display may have the most obvious effect on the usability and more than often price of a smartphone; refresh rates are often overlooked.

A recent test by Mikro PC used the Lagomin response time test to compare screen refresh rates between the Nokia Lumia 920, Samsung Galaxy S III and the Apple iPhone 5. Essentially, this test involves an image being display on the display, then changed and remaining ‘ghost bars' are measured to determine the refresh rate of the displays.

The test found that the Lumia 920 has just 0.59 ‘ghost bars' while that Galaxy S III had 1.4 while the iPhone 5 came in last with 3.15; as the fewer ghost bars there are, the better. The result shows that the Nokia's display refreshes 2.4 times faster than the Galaxy S III and 5.4 times faster than the iPhone 5.

KitGuru says: While real world differences are probably negligible; scrolling text and some games could be clearer on the Nokia Lumia 920 for it.
