Bioshock Infinite will have reversible cover art

After the controversy surrounding the recent unveiling of the lacklustre and pretty generic box art for Bioshock Infinite, Irrational Games has announced that when the game is released, it will come with a reversible cover so gamers have a choice.

And it won't be Irrational choosing it. Co-founder Ken Levine, has thrown up a few options for fans of the series to vote on. The most popular, will see inclusion as the optional game cover art.

“We want to hear your voice on what that cover should be. To that end, we’ve arranged a poll below that lets you choose from several potential reversible covers,” he said in a post on the company's site. “I’ve got my favorite, but I’m not telling which.  We’ve got to do this quickly to meet our print deadlines, so vote soon. Like, NOW!”

However he also said, that even if gamers didn't like either the original or alternate cover choice, they'd be able to download and print off their own cover art too: “We’re also going to be arranging a whole mess of MORE alternate covers which will be available to download and print yourself. Of course, these are free and we’d love to hear your thoughts in the forums as to what you’d like to see.”

While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
