Twitter is an outlet for Israel and Hamas

At this stage in the life of social networking, we're all used to seeing downtrodden citizens using the site to show persecution by governments and their own struggles for freedom. However something a bit different is happening in the latest Israel/Hamas conflict: both sides are speaking out.

The Israel Defence Force (IDF) has more of an audience, with just over 90,000 followers and have been releasing digital leaflets, photos and infographics detailing the actions of Hamas fighters. Comparatively the Palestinian Alqassam Brigades have a much more modest 8,500 followers and have been leaving more traditional messages, as well as some horrifying images of dead children – purportedly victims of recent IDF attacks.

Both sides are claiming the other is responsible for civilian casualties and have been extolling their own military efforts while condemning those of the other.

KitGuru Says: It's always good for people to have an outlet and this certainly gives the rest of the world a much better insight into the conflict, but when it's so clearly biased on both sides, it's hard not to take what's being said by both sides without a hefty pinch of salt.
