Acer announces its own cheap Jelly Bean tablet

After being leaked late last year, Acer has used the confines of CES to announce the relatively cheap Iconia B1-A71 tablet. For roughly half the price of ASUS' Nexus 7 you will get a 7 inch WSVGA (1024×600 resolution) display, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Mediatek MTK 8317T processor, 512 MB of memory and 8 GB of expandable storage via microSD which is always a big plus on cheaper tablets.

Further specifications include 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, a front facing 0.3 MP webcam and a 2710 mAh battery. The value targeted tablet is 11.3 mm thick and weighs a modest 320 grams.

The expected retail price for the Acer Iconia B1-A71 is under $150, up from the previously rumoured $99. Furthermore, Acer were not willing to share any time frame for release.

KitGuru says: While it may be enticing for under $150, the likely better option would be to save for an extra few weeks for the ASUS Nexus 7.
