Samsung updates Series 3 Chromebox

Samsung first introduced their Chromebox in late May of 2012 that reminded us perhaps too much of Apple's Mac Mini. In this latest version the aesthetics of the miniature desktop has been modified to look more original.

Over its predecessor the new Series 3 Chromebox running Google's Chrome OS has only updated the design. Internal specifications such as the 1.9 GHz Intel Celeron B840 processor, Intel HD graphics, 4 GB DDR3 RAM and 16 GB storage will remain unchanged.

The 7.5 inch square box contains a plethora of ports. Including six USB ports, two DisplayPorts, DVI, Ethernet and a headphone/microphone combination jack.

To us Chrome OS makes a lot more sense on a mobile platform such as Samsung's $249 Chromebook but as the platform develops further it could become an attractive option over a cheap desktop running Windows.

Pricing details remain unknown but KitGuru expects it will match or better its predecessor's $329 USD asking price.

KitGuru says: It is unclear what Samsung's intention is with a Chromebox that offers next to nothing over its earlier model.
