Lenovo announce ThinkPad Helix with Windows 8

Lenovo have announced their latest addition to the Thinkpad range with the new Helix hybrid.

The ThinkPad Helix is based around a removable ‘rip and flip' touchscreen (their words, not ours). The device can be operated in four different modes, including a Tablet mode.

The 11.6 inch screen has in plane switching technology to improve viewing angles and has a full 1080p resolution, in a similar fashion to the Sony Vaio Duo 11.

The screen can be undocked from the keyboard, as shown in the image above. Lenovo are calling the ‘rip' function. The Helix is said to be the slimmest 3rd Generation Core tablet released and only weighs 835g.

The company are claiming an impressive 10 hour battery life and they are using Windows 8 as the OS of choice.

We've also pumped more power and productivity into the new IdeaPad Yoga 11S mini- Ultrabook so it can handle whatever mobile computing tasks consumers throw at it.”

Kitguru says: Pricing looks quite high, around the $1800 mark in America. UK prices we would expect to be around £1,500.
