NVIDIA may launch their own Android devices

NVIDIA could be preparing to debut their own range of Android devices in the near future in other to give their mobile chipsets greater exposure. Tegra 3 devices were largely out-shined by those powered by Samsung's Exynos or Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips. The only real exception was the ASUS Nexus 7 that undoubtedly sold well due to its low asking price of $199 USD.

Apparently NVIDIA plans include the manufacturing of cheap Android devices that will be sold under the name of smaller, regional companies. This will allow NVIDIA to control the research and development and manufacturing stages, ensuring a high quality product. The regional companies will be used to achieve the distribution, volume and scale necessary for success. NVIDIA will use this to undercut its competition while managing to offer a high-end product.

This plan is set to commence in May or June and will likely include 7 and 10 inch Android tablets.

KitGuru says: Given the success of the ASUS Nexus 7, a couple of high-quality cheap NVIDIA powered Android tablets are bound to sell well.
