LG was an original Windows Phone 7 partner way back when the platform originally launched in late 2010 but apart from a couple of launch day devices we have yet to see a follow-up Windows Phone device from them. Now, new rumours suggest that the Korean company will debut a range of new Windows Phone handsets later this year.
The rumours reportedly come from an executive from one of LG's partner firms who spoke with sources in South Korea. It is unknown yet how many devices will be launched but details could be revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February.
The LG Optimus 7 and Quantum experienced limited success when they were launched in late 2010. Considering Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform is many times more popular now LG could see the potential benefits in spreading out away from Android.
KitGuru says: Considering all Windows Phone devices are very similar in terms of internal specifications, LG will have to think hard about what will be unique about any possible Windows Phone devices.
