Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has outsold every Castlevania game

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to the much-loved though historically poor-selling Castlevania series. Released back in 2019 following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the series’ creator has now announced a bunch of updates, alongside the fact that Ritual of the Night has sold over 2 million copies.

Taking to Kickstarter to make the announcement, Koji Igarashi – the mind behind the Castlevania series as well as Bloodstained – said “we are honored to announce that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has sold two million copies since its launch in June 2019!”

They continued, “This is due to all the support we have received from everyone. We would like to sincerely thank you so much. This entire project has been a labor of love for everyone involved. We appreciate all of the support you have given us since the initial Kickstarter announcement. We have much more to do and we look forward to sharing it all with you!”

Speaking of, the team showed off the next update set to arrive to RotN: The Chaos and VS modes – though stated that more in-depth information will be shared next week on the 14th of September.

With 2 million copies sold, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has officially outsold all previous Castlevania games, with Castlevania: Lords of the Shadow coming closest with 1.75 million copies. It will be interesting to see what Igarashi and the team have planned for the future of the franchise following the conclusion of RotN’s DLC.
