Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 gets new studio, new trailer and new release date

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was supposed to release a few years ago at this point but due to development issues, the project had to shift studios and be rebooted. Paradox Interactive hadn't confirmed the new studio working on the game over the last couple of years but that has finally changed. UK studio, The Chinese Room, has taken the reigns on the project and is gearing up for a 2024 launch.

In a new video shared at PAX West over the weekend, Paradox Interactive revealed The Chinese Room as the new developer behind Bloodlines 2. The game is said to be the team's most ambitious project to date, with the studio's director, Ed Daly, adding that the goal is to create a sequel that “honours the legacy of its predecessor while bringing its gameplay to the modern era”.

The studio reveal was accompanied by a new trailer for the game, which you can see above. Previously, The Chinese Room was best known for games like Dear Esther, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Amnesia: Machine for Pigs.

Paradox's Sean Greaney said that they were “immediately impressed” by the studio's proposal for the game, which ultimately won them control of the project. There is a gameplay reveal planned for January 2024 and the game should release later next year.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully this new version of Bloodlines 2 sticks and the game actually comes out. There have been many delays along the way but if there is a good game at the end of the tunnel, then all of the previous issues will quickly be forgotten.
